Welcome to the RMMSA

1212700910_i-76 heat race 4-20-08 014.jpgWelcome to the Rocky Mountain Mini Sprint Racing Association home page. The RMMSA is a wingless mini sprint association that races in the rocky mountain region at race tracks such as: I-76 Speedway in Fort Morgan Colorado, i25 Speedway near Pueblo Colorado, Colorado National Speedway in Erie Colorado and Big Country Speedway in Cheyenne Wyoming.

The RMMSA was founded in 1987 which made 2007 our 20th anniversary season. Big plans are in the works for our upcoming season as the RMMSA continues to grow as one of the rocky mountain regions premier mini sprint associations.
Another win for the "Kid" at CNS

Twelve cars hit the track for the RMMSA main event at Colorado National Speedway this saturday. After a long rain delay prior to the heat races, mother nature let up and stayed dry for a great night of racing.

After getting the track dry, it was time to race with #56 Troy Simpson on the pole and #40 Todd Weland on the outside followed by #69 Paul Babich on the inside of row 2.  Babich pulled to the front of the pack on the back stretch of lap one with the fifth place starter #24 Jay Sant in tow. As the cars entered turn three, #9 Nick Burton made it three wide with Sant on the inside of Babich. Sant's left wheels made contact with a large puddle in the inside of turn 4 spinning him in front of the field. The entire field did an excellent job avoiding the spinning car of Sant. Sant was able to continue after a complete 360 spin but the caution came out as the cars entered the back stretch. The race was restarted with the #24 starting at the back of the field. #69 of Paul Babich led the field to the start with #9 Nick Burton in tow and #56 Troy Simpson in third. The #69 of Paul Babich slowed with mechanical problems on lap 3 and was left behind as Nick Burton pulled into the lead with #5 Brent Rees in tow and #56 Troy Simpson in third.

The #24 of Jay Sant raced ahead from the back of the pack with his eye on the lead and moved swiftly into a distant 3rd. By lap 7 the leaders were already navigating lapped traffic. It was starting to look close going into lap 18 as Brent Rees in 2nd place had been cutting inches off of Burton’s lead. Still it was the lightning fast #9 Nick Burton who crossed the finish first, followed by #5 Brent Rees, #24 Jay Sant,  #56 Troy Simpson and #19 Larry Pachello.

Burton thanked his hard working crew for making his win possible.  The RMMSA organization would like to send our thoughts and prayers to John Baker and his family and has donated the entire purse for saturday's race at CNS to the Baker family. God Bless and get well soon.

The final finish order was as follows:

1 #9 NICK BURTON, 2 #5 BRENT REES, 3 #24 JAY SANT, 4 #56 TROY SIMPSON, 5 #19 LARRY PACHELLO, 6 #40 TODD WELAND, 7 #42 TIM WELAND, 8 #2 CHUCK MILLS, 9 #10 SHANNON ELLIOTT, 10 #27 DAVE WEIHRICH, 11 #69 PAUL BABICH, 12 #26 CHRIS CROWDER

Our next race is on 6/27 at I-76Speedway.
